Do you hate the bland, clear, plastic headlight covers on your car. Do you want to make the front of your car look more aggressive and mean. Well now you have the option of either smoking or tinting your headlights. As always be safe especially around nighttime where both smoking and tinting affect your headlights lumen capacity making it harder to drive at night, so be safe.
Smoked Headlights
Smoking headlights involves painting the headlight cover black. That way the light looks a charcoal color, hence where smoked headlights got their name. Smoked headlights are cheap to do as all you need to do is paint the headlight cover and you’re set. The biggest con however is that you better not drive in the dark with smoked headlights as it severely diminishes the light output. Also the light is a charcoal color rather than a bright white so it is very hard to drive in the dark with these. Smoked headlights are a cheap way to make your car look cool but if you want to be able to use your car as well check out tinted headlights.
Tinted Headlights
Here tinted headlights use a type of vinyl that allows light to shine through it. That means your headlight light is only slightly lowered when you use a headlight tint compared to just painting your headlight cover. Tinted headlights can be multiple shades of dark so that way you can customize that look to you and your car. The biggest con is that it is more expensive than just painting your headlights, but your purchase is rewarded as you can see and use your car at night and not be a danger on the public road. Although it is still not as viewable as no headlight tint so if you are looking for the best in safety it is best to do neither of these options.
In conclusion, you want to treat your car as nice as possible, that includes stressing over every detail. While many wouldn’t care about the plastic covers on their headlights, you do. And there are options to black it out to either provide more contrast or complete your all black build. Which ever one it is, smoking and tinting your headlights are both effective options. Just be careful if you drive your car at night and obviously, check your local regulations to make sure everything you’re doing is legal.
